What is AM2?

The AM2 Test must be taken by apprentices who are in their final year of the JIB Apprentice Training Programme and others who wish to use the test to accredit practical experience.

The AM2 is a three-day industry recognised trade test that is controlled by the National Electrotechnical Training (NET) Organisation in conjunction with the Joint Industry Board (JIB) and Summit Skills who are currently the Sector Skills Council for the Electrotechnical Industry.

The AM2 Test centre is based at ETT's headquarters in Ballymena. This is the only NET approved centre in Northern Ireland.

The AM2 Test lasts for three days and comprises of four sections

Section A A1 Composite Installation
A2 Visual Inspection
A3 Functional Operation
Section B Inspection and testing of the composite installation
Section C C1 Safe isolation of test unit
C2 Safe isolation of Supplies
Section D D1 Fault diagnoses
D2 Fault rectification
