Electrical Installations Calculations

A. J. Watkins, C. Kitcher

Basic Electrical Installation Book

All the essential basic calculations required for electrical installation work.

Designed to provide a step-by-step guide to successful application of the electrical installation calculations required in day to day electrical engineering practice, the Electrical Installation Calculations series is an invaluable reference for both apprentices and professional electrical installation engineers.

Volume 1 has been fully updated to meet the requirements of the 2330 Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology from City & Guilds and will also provide a vital purchase for students of the Level 3 NVQ Installing Electrotechnical Systems (2356). Essential calculations, which may not necessarily feature as part of the requirements of these syllabi are retained for reference by professional electrical installation engineers based in industry, or for those students wishing to progress to higher levels of study.

The new edition also brings content in line with the latest edition of the Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2001 (incorporating Amendments 1:2002 & 2:2004), with material cross-referenced to the Wiring Regulations throughout.

On-Site Guide

Basic Electrical Installation Book

The On-Site Guide is one of a number of publications prepared by the IET to provide guidance on certain aspects of BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Wiring Regulations, 17th Edition). BS 7671 is a joint publication of the British Standards Institution and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The scope generally follows that of BS 7671. It includes material not included in BS 7671, provides background to the intentions of BS 7671 and gives other sources of information. However, this guide does not ensure compliance with BS 7671. It is a simple guide to the requirements of BS 7671, and electricians and electrical installers should always consult BS 7671 to satisfy themselves of compliance.

It is expected that persons carrying out work in accordance with this guide will be competent to do so.

Year Scheme of Work (Units 301-306)
