Info for parents/guardians - The role of ETT

The Electrical Training Trust (ETT) was established in 1997 as the Electrical Contracting Industry's Recognised Training Body. ETT is recognised by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) to manage under the Jobskills and Training for Success programmes, on behalf of the Electrical Industry, the JIB Electrical Modern Apprenticeship (MA) Programme.

There is no other supplier organisation approved by the Department for Employment and Learning to provide Modern Apprenticeships in Electrical Installation under Job skills and Training for Success.

ETT is one of the largest Modern Apprenticeship providers in Northern Ireland.  The local industry recruits between 300 and 400 Apprentice Electricians each year and also enjoys some of the best final outcome qualification results in the UK.

ETT provides apprentices with support, guidance and advice throughout the Modern Apprenticeship Programme.

A dedicated ETT Industry Training Officer (vocationally competent, experienced and appropriately qualified) is assigned to each young person through to the completion of their training programme.

Industry Training Officers are tasked with three main objectives:

  • To monitor and assess the performance of the young person both in the College and Workplace environments.
  • To provide support and guidance to the young person
  • To liaise with the College and Employer on matters of progress, achievement, attendance and assessment.
