About the apprenticeship - The Stages
Your apprenticeship training will be carried out in partnership with ETT, your employer and a local college. The Electrical Modern Apprenticeship has four stages and takes four years to complete.
Stage 1
The first year will be alternated between the local college and your employer. Generally, a two day release system is required to complete the first year of training. One day will be dedicated to theory training and the second day to practical training. You are required to complete all aspects of the City & Guilds Technical Certificate at Level 2 as well as completing any necessary Essential Skill requirements.
Stage 2
The second year will involve a day release element. During the day release arrangement you are required to complete all aspects of the City & Guilds Technical Certificate at Level 3, this includes both theory and practical training.
Stage 3
Stage 3 requires attendance at college for 27 hours of training. Generally a night class arrangement is required to complete the third year of the apprenticeship programme. At this stage of the apprenticeship, competence to complete work on site with the employer is assessed to the NVQ National Standards.
Stage 4
Stage 4 requires attendance at college for 27 hours of training. Generally a night class arrangement is required to complete the final year of the apprenticeship where continual assessment of the evidence portfolio to the NVQ National Standards is undertaken. Successful completion of the Achievement Measurement 2 Test is necessary in Stage 4. The AM2 Test, along with workplace observations, are required to achieve the NVQ Level 3 Framework.
