From July 1, 2018, the BS7671 Electrical Wiring Requirements will be updated to a new blue version 18th Edition book. The existing 17th Edition will also remain available to designers and installers for a six-month transitional period before being permanently withdrawn on December 31, 2018. Commencing January 1, 2019 all electrical design and installation work for the UK construction and maintenance industry will become subject to the 18th Edition as the minimum standard.
The awarding bodies, including EAL, LOGIC and City & Guilds, have determined, with industry approval, that the increased scope of the new standard is sufficient to require all candidates to undertake a single, common, multiple choice, open book examination. This means that there will be no interim update type examination. However, ETT is offering a short one-day update course followed by the common online exam for those who meet the criteria.
ETT 1 Day Update Course
This option is available to those who have successfully undertaken the most recent version of the 17th Edition, the 2382-15 (including the 3rd Amendment). ETT normally requests that candidates undertaking this option provide evidence of having achieved an accredited 17th Edition 2382-15 qualification. However, if you completed your qualification with ETT you do not need to provide copies of certificates, as ETT will do this for you.
ETT 3 Day Update Course
If you have a BS7671 qualification that predates the 17th Edition 2382-15, you will be required to complete a three day training course aimed at preparing you for the common online exam.
Don’t wait until July to make a booking. ETT’s 18th Edition 1 day and 3 day courses are already available to pre book on the website – some dates are already fully booked. Contact the team today on 028 25 650 750 or visit the Course Finder section of our website for all available dates.
