Entry Criteria

To join the Electrical Apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have reached the official school leaving age
  • Applicants over the age of 24 will only be provided with 50% of the funding as per DEL guidelines the remaining 50% must be self funded
  • Reside in Northern Ireland and have a total of 16 GCSE points, including GCSE Grade C qualifications in English and Maths. (Points are attributed as follows: Grade A – 10 pts; B – 8 pts; C – 6 pts; D – 4pts; E – 2 pts)
  • Be physically fit, free from colour blindness, able to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Be in paid full-time employment with a suitable Northern Ireland registered electrical contracting employer
