Course Overview

Although aimed primarily at electricians looking to expand their range of expertise, this course is open to anyone looking to get into PAT testing work.  Candidates should be familiar with electrical systems and hazards of electricity in order to satisfactorily complete this qualification. Candidates must be able to demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and experience to ensure that they have the potential to successfully gain the qualification.

Structure

One day delivery, followed by a 2nd day for the practical assessment and online multiple-choice theory exam held at ETT.

Course Materials

On attendance of the course, you will need to bring the following:
  • IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (5th Edition)

Course Requirements

Although there are no formal prerequisites for this course, Candidates need to have electrical knowledge and be able to understand basic electrical calculation.  The course content is designed to help you understand, interpret and apply the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.  We will also provide hands on practical training using approved and calibrated instruments.

On successful completion of the programme candidates will receive a City & Guilds certificate.

Exams and Assessments

To allow time for study, the exam & assessment will be scheduled to take place after you attend the course.  All exams and assessments are held at the ETT Centre.  Dates will be confirmed with you on the day of the course.  Exam dates are subject to change.

  • Online multiple choice exam, 40 questions, 1 hour 45 minutes (open book). Please note your first attempt at the exam is included in the price of this course. Any subsequent resits will incur a fee.
  • Practical assessment 1 hour. Please note your first attempt at the practical is included in the price of this course. Any subsequent resits will incur a fee.
